Game Instructions

Game Instructions

Object of the game Flip through each card of your rows until you overturn an Advance card. First player to overturn an advance card in their last row becomes the new king/winner. The game keeps going until all but one player makes it through their rows. The last player in the game is labeled as the peasant/loser

. Set up

Separate and shuffle the three decks; Regular deck, Mystery deck and Advance cards. The decks should each be placed in a location reachable by all players. The Regular deck and Advance card decks have the same backing. It is easier for set up to have them separated. Inversely the mystery card deck has a color difference and can be easily denoted by the blood red question mark.

*When we refer to a “Row” in instructions or on card we mean each separate bundle or column of 4 cards; 1 advance and 3 regular cards (Breakdown below)*

● Place four advance cards face down in four separate piles in front of each player

● Add three Regular deck cards to each row faced down on top of the four previously placed face down Advance cards.

● Each player then shuffles their four rows individually, ensuring to keep each of the four rows separate. Players are not allowed to look at the cards they have in each row until individually drawn.

● Place one mystery card face down in front of each player. Do not show anyone the mystery card, each player may look at their own mystery card. If the mystery card is a “used when drawn” mystery card, the player is to use the card as soon as they draw it. The mystery card will say at the bottom *Use When Drawn* if it is to be used when drawn.

● Place an empty cup in between all players, or in a location reachable by all players, this cup is the community cup.

● Have a coin, and at least one die accessible by all players.

● Each player then rolls one die, the highest roll starts the game. Game starts clockwise from the starting player. *Each player should now have in front of them; 4 rows that each contain 1 Advance card per row and 3 Regular deck cards. Also each player should have one mystery card, an accessible coin, at least one accessible die, and one community cup used by all.* How to play

● Flip your first given mystery card If the first card is a “used when drawn” mystery card, then the player reads the card aloud and uses the mystery card before drawing from their first Regular card row. Players can use a mystery card at any point of their turn if it is not a “used when drawn”

● Player starts with the first row on the left and makes their way right through all 4 rows, left to right. Player starts by flipping over the first card of their first beginning row. If the card is an advance card, the player moves on to the next row starting their next turn. Otherwise the player does the task stated on the card. Player does not draw more than one card per turn unless they use a mystery card that allows them to do so. Player does not advance until the advance card has been drawn or a mystery card allows it.

● After the player has flipped their card in the first row and has completed the card’s task, the player may now draw a card from the mystery deck pile. Player does not show the card to any other players. If the card is a “used when drawn” card, the player uses the card then. If the card is not a “used when drawn” card, the player may use the card at any point of their turn or when the card deems itself necessary (such as the card “Reinforcement”).

● After the player has drawn a new mystery card and the player has decided if it is to be used, that is the end of their turn and they alert the next player it is their turn.

● In order to finish the game all but 1 player must turn over their last row’s advance card or advance past their last row, the first player to do so is crowned the king. Do Not clear your rows until there is only 1 player remaining. The king may make up 1 rule for all other players still playing per full game turn rotation. If the king does not change the rule for the next rotation the rule remains in play until the game is over, but it is up to the king to enforce the rules to the players still playing, you must keep your servants loyal!

Turn Recap

● Player draws a card from their current row.

● Player completes the task stated by card.

● Player then decides whether to use one of their mystery cards from their hand if any.

● Player draws a mystery card and uses it if it is a “Use when drawn”.

● Player ends turn and tells the next player to take theirs Restoring/Reshuffling a Row When a card refers to “restoring” or “reshuffling” a row we mean to re flip all cards in the row face down and to shuffle the cards in that row, this does not include cards that may have been discarded for example the card (“boobytrap”) Regular Deck Cards/ Graveyard Cards These cards can be identified as the ones without the red question mark. Regular deck cards are used to fill your rows once rows are all filled the leftovers of these cards become the Graveyard cards. Once a regular card is discarded it becomes a Graveyard card. Mystery Cards These cards can be identified by having the blood red question mark. These cards are to be kept separate from the regular deck and be discarded when used into their own separate pile. Advance Cards These cards have the same backing as the Regular Deck Cards but are to be kept separate for convenience of game setup. Only 1 of these should ever be in each row and can never be discarded. (Recommended, pull out all advance cards before shuffling regular deck before and after every game)

Dice/coin rules

If at any point players tie in a flip or roll and the card does not state further directions, reroll or flip until one player prevails as the winner. For example the card series (“Duel!!”) If the player that draws a card and picks a player to roll or flip against loses and there are no further instructions on the card nothing happens.

Community Cup

The community cup is for the guillotine and witch hunt cards and is to be placed in the middle before the game starts. The cup size does not matter. Once full, players can either start a new cup in addition to the first, or the full cup initiates a mandatory witch hunt. All players then anonymously vote on who they think is the "witch". (Read further in “Witch Hunt in depth” section)

Witch Hunt

The Witch Hunt can be triggered in multiple ways such as, (mystery cards, regular deck cards or an overfull scenario). Once one is set in motion all players unless stated by a card are to anonymously Write down the player’s name they wish to drink the community cup. Once all names are placed in the center the one who triggered the hunt reads the names aloud and the player with the most votes must drink the cup. The King or any other players that have finished their last row are immune to a witch hunt. (Do not drink the cup at an unfavorable speed or if you have any allergies to anything that has been put into the cup!)

Punishments

A punishment in this game is usually a drink or something a regular/ mystery card makes you do but can be categorized as any one thing you would not like to do. This judgment is inevitably based on what all the players in the group think qualifies as such, not just a player trying to worm out. Making a Rule By making a rule it needs to be something fairly simple and does not always need to be drinking related. A good example would be something like the curse cards but only for the limit of 1 turn of course , points for creativity! Remember you won’t always be the one making the rules, you’ve been warned.

Regular deck/ Graveyard Cards in depth:

(Sometimes you just can’t fit it all) The Well The size and speed of which you decide to drink does not matter, it's just to keep you in the game longer!

Blood for Blood

you are drinking your own drink and refilling the community cup and may replenish with any liquids, and it does not have to be the same type.

Trebuchet Trouble

all of the doors that got “busted” by this card get discarded unless they are advance cards.

Tournament

both players advance to the next row, do not reshuffle either player’s previous rows.

The Joust

The drinking race can be any the player chooses, however the recommended “Game” is shotgunning/chugging a beer.

Dragons Breath!! or Heating Up!

(If you are allergic to HOT SAUCE, then DON’T do it! We recommend you replace it with a regular shot.) That’s not an apple! (If you are allergic to ONIONS, then DON’T do it! onion can be replaced with ANY other edible object.)

Booby Trap

If you’ve already beat and discarded this card it does not return to your column if it happens to get reshuffled.

Accursed Room

If a player has a curse card in their hand they get to choose if they give it to the player that drew accursed room

Realm of Rough Stuff

If you are lacking graveyard cards use what is left even if it is just an advance card. Make sure to shuffle!

Chilly Willy

It’s all fun and games until it is your turn, if you don’t have the game spirit and constitution to do this and feel it is unsafe DO NOT do this card. you are at no time obligated to engage in this act, if you for any reason do not choose to yourself. Disclaimer: This type of consumption is to be taken seriously, if misused it can be dangerous. If at any time you are uncomfortable DO NOT attempt to do this act. We hold no responsibility or liability for the actions you choose to make when playing this game.

Mystery Cards in depth:

(the cards couldn’t handle the size of the explanation)

Reinforce

This can be used on other player’s turns and can only re-flip over 1 card; it does not reshuffle the card into the row.

Execution

Lowest rolling player reshuffles ALL rows, and restarts from the first row. The Slip When switching rows with another player, neither row is reshuffled and both players start where the other player left off. You are to actually swap the cards in the row with another player.

Overthrown

If the overthrown card is used the king goes back to their last row and reshuffles if other players have finished as well the one who finished second is now king. Jesus? Once you draw this card you must hold on to it until you either get a The Well card or another player takes it through the natural play of the game. You should reveal the card and lay it face up for everyone to see.

Jailbreak!

Jailbreak may not break or counter a curse but it may keep you from doing something you don’t like.

Tool Shed (series)

When using these cards you may never discard an advance card. when one of the cards requires a mystery card or 2 to be possibly discarded or used you can only use that card when you have enough mystery cards in your hand currently.
